Knowledge of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for practice is critical to working effectively within the education sector. Designed for teachers this introductory workshop provides an understanding of Te Tiriti in the context of education.

From Term 3 2022 this workshop will be available as self-paced learning comprising of Understanding Te Tiriti (concise) and a new Te Tiriti in Education self-paced workshop. This approach makes learning accessible, affordable and flexible.

The self-paced workshop is designed to be undertaken individually or as a group. The content can be worked through by individuals in their own time. Groups can complete the content within a Rā Kaiako / Teacher Only Day (6 hours).

Through the workshop participants will:

  • gain a basic understanding of why we have a Treaty, what it says, colonisation, and some current Te Tiriti issues
  • build their understanding of the relevance and implications of Te Tiriti to their work within the education sector.
  • consider actions they can take to apply Te Tiriti in their work

Enquire now and we will be in touch when the workshop is available.

“The workshops laid the framework for staff to consider the importance The Treaty has on our work as educators and the practical steps we can take to incorporate what we learned, both in our school community and in the classroom with our students. They have made a lasting impression staff and we cannot recommend them highly enough.”
