Knowledge of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for practice is critical to working effectively within the education sector. Designed for teachers and school staff this introductory workshop provides an understanding of Te Tiriti in the context of education.

Through this 6 hour workshop participants will:

  • gain a basic understanding of why we have a Treaty, what it says, colonisation, and some current Te Tiriti issues
  • build their understanding of the relevance and implications of Te Tiriti to their work within the education sector.
  • consider actions they can take to apply Te Tiriti in their work

“The workshops laid the framework for staff to consider the importance The Treaty has on our work as educators and the practical steps we can take to incorporate what we learned, both in our school community and in the classroom with our students. They have made a lasting impression staff and we cannot recommend them highly enough.”
Melissa Denzler, Deputy Principal, Wellington Girls’ College
