Toitū Te Tiriti

Tēnā koutou,

Tēnei te mihi maioha ki a koutou katoa e tautoko ana i te kaupapa whakahirahira nei, arā ko Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

We hope that you are all keeping well and embracing the support of those near to you during this intense time of wrapping up 2023. It is a challenging moment of responding to a new government’s actions to undermine the significant work of tangata whenua and tangata Tiriti towards a unified, healthy society and planet. At this time, our team also send our deepest aroha to all those who have been impacted by violence in Gaza and the West Bank. We encourage continued action across human rights kaupapa – including calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

It is during times like these, when we are witnessing grave injustices across the globe and threats to our founding agreement back home, that we hold fast to the enduring promise and vision of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. One that outlines relationships of reciprocity and care between tangata whenua and tangata Tiriti, a place where everyone belongs, a flourishing environment, and a harmonious future where all of our mokopuna have what they need to thrive. Te Tiriti o Waitangi guides us to this future and connects all of us with the kaupapa of social justice globally.

We are heartened by and grateful to all of you and the thousands of other people we’ve worked with this year (and those we haven’t!) who are constructively engaged in learning about Te Tiriti and taking actions to uphold Te Tiriti in workplaces, community and whānau spaces. E mihi kau ana ki a koutou katoa.

We hope you are able to have a good rest over raumati/summer, and we look forward to continuing to support your work to champion Te Tiriti o Waitangi in your various spaces in 2024. In this pānui we provide links to new resources and workshop offerings for continued Te Tiriti honouring mahi.

Ngā mihi o te wā hoa mā. With gratitude and in solidarity.

Mauri ora,

Jen, Victoria, Hannah, Jordan and Darryn – the Groundwork team.
